“If there is one piece of advice I could give to an expectant mother, especially a first-time mom, it would be HIRE A DOULA!  Our doula Angie was wonderful, patient, reassuring and there for every minute I needed her.  I had back labor - 14 hours of it and was able to have a natural birth which was very important to me.  I don't think I would've made it without Angie.  She was able to help relieve the discomfort in my hips and back and calm and focus my husband.  Her assistance kept both of us from becoming totally stressed out!  My midwife was fantastic but had to also look after my baby and manage my labor.  It was so comforting to know that someone was there just to look after me if I needed anything - a drink, reassurance, a back rub or whatever.  I am forever grateful to Angie for her role in bringing our precious daughter into the world.”
